Farewell to the Flair

As many of you know, we purchased a home a few months ago from whom I'm sure was a delightful little old lady. She had passed away and the home was an estate sale. Upon entering the home one could say that she had a thing for the color pink. I believe mauve may have been her favorite hue, but I know rose, coral and even blush and bashful were favored. Her desired shade stood the test of time which was evidenced by the copious layers of wallpaper, each with their own version of a garden in bloom. The home not only looked like Grandma Millie had just put on her face, it even smelled like she had. While I love an "old home with character" I do have some basic requirements...that is the kitchen. I'm passionate when it comes to cooking. It's my therapy, my release, my "Today is going to be okay because I've got fresh basil I'm chopping". While our family is on a budget (e.g. we purchase an interior door knob every payday or so) my husband knew we wouldn't be going long with this little state-of-the-art culinary charm...the 1962 Frigidaire Flair

That's right! My pink carnation kitchen came complete with this double oven/pull-out range beauty. Now I know this woman must have felt like a pageant winner when she waited for water to boil for 13 minutes. And honestly, I felt like a queen too when I made sloppy joes on it our first night there but it was time to upgrade. The upgrade could not and would not have happened if it wasn't for my parents. They are the most generous people I know. My mom also understands my appetite for time in the kitchen and my dad is quite pleased with the fact that baked goods are delivered to his house on a weekly basis. So thank you mom and dad and thank you Sweetie for installing this (he ran the new gas line). And thank you Millie (the sweet old lady that formally owned the home and Flair) for your inspiration. I couldn't accept this crown if it was not for all of you.

p.s. If anyone is looking for 60s memorabilia, vintage kitchen appliances or just wants to replace the clock on their now defunct Flair clock, just let me know. Bidding begins at $49.99 :)
